Munger, Tolles & Olson Once Again Named Tech Industry Litigation Department of the Year Finalist in 2023 California Legal Awards
For the second year in a row, Munger, Tolles & Olson was recognized by The Recorder as a Tech Industry Litigation Department of the Year finalist of the 2023 California Legal Awards. The awards celebrate the achievements of lawyers and companies leading technology, innovation and the legal profession as a whole. The winner will be announced in November during an awards ceremony.
Munger, Tolles & Olson was recognized for its leading technology practice representing major tech clients in their most important and complex matters, including OpenSea, a crypto start-up and NFT marketplace, in a first-of-its-kind dispute involving stolen NFTs; tech platform Handy Technologies Inc. and parent company Angi Inc. in resolving novel litigation involving Labor Code Section 2777 brought by the San Francisco and Los Angeles County District Attorneys; and Block, Inc. (formerly Square, Inc.) in a precedent-setting victory establishing that Internet companies’ terms of service may properly draw distinctions between groups of users based on facially legitimate reasons without discovery or further litigation.
Ahead of the November awards ceremony, MTO partners Carolyn Hoecker Luedtke, Jonathan Blavin and Rose Ehler spoke with The Recorder about the litigation team’s latest wins and how the business of litigation is evolving.
In addition to being named a Tech Industry Litigation Department of the Year finalist, partner Carolyn Hoecker Luedtke was named to the 2023 Women Leaders in Tech Law list.
