Carolyn Hoecker Luedtke Named To The Recorder’s 2023 Women Leaders in Tech Law List

Munger, Tolles & Olson partner Carolyn Hoecker Luedtke was named to The Recorder’s 2023 Women Leaders in Tech Law list as part of the 2023 California Legal Awards. The award recognizes lawyers who have been innovators within the technology sector and produced outstanding work in their careers.

Carolyn is highly regarded for her experience with both litigation and pre-litigation counseling involving trade secret misappropriation and confidentiality breaches as well as navigating noncompetition agreements—subjects regularly featured in legal disputes involving tech companies. She was honored for her recent work representing Snap, its founder Evan Spiegel, and its subsidiary Zenly in defending against trade secret and patent litigation in federal court in Delaware brought by the defunct social mapping application, You Map; defense of former ASM employee and current Applied Materials executive, Bok-Heon Kim, in a lawsuit in federal court in Arizona in which ASM sought to enforce a non-competition agreement to block him from working for Applied; and representing First Student, the nation’s largest school bus company, in litigation with Zum, which claimed to bring new technology to disrupt the yellow school bus industry.

This is the second year in a row that MTO was recognized in the Women Leaders in Tech Law category. Last year, partner Miriam Kim was honored with the award. This is Carolyn’s fourth time receiving this recognition, having previously been honored in 2013, 2017 and 2019.

In addition to Carolyn’s recognition, Munger, Tolles & Olson was named a 2023 finalist in the Tech Industry Litigation Department of the Year category. The winner will be announced in November during an awards ceremony.
