Overview
Matthias A. Kamber is an experienced trial lawyer who represents clients in complex intellectual property and technology disputes. His practice encompasses patent, trade secret, copyright and trademark litigation.
Matthias has tried over a dozen jury and bench trials and has litigated intellectual property matters in federal courts across the country and before the U.S. International Trade Commission. His experience spans a broad range of technologies, including internet advertising, telecommunications, smartphones and microprocessors. His experience also allows him to identify key issues early and develop targeted litigation strategies that advance his clients’ broader business objectives.
Matthias represents leading technology companies in high-stakes disputes, including matters involving multibillion-dollar claims. He has achieved favorable results at every stage of litigation, from early dispositive victories, to summary judgment, to trial. And he has defended and secured those wins on appeal before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit.
Matthias is also active in the Federal Circuit Bar Association, where he is President-Elect and previously co-chaired its Amicus Committee and Veterans Pro Bono Committee. He also served on the Advisory Council of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit from 2015 to 2021. Through his pro bono practice, he has represented veterans in appeals before the U.S. Court of Appeals for Veterans Claims.

Google in:
- lawsuits relating to online targeted advertising. Won summary judgment of invalidity.
- a multi-billion-dollar patent and copyright dispute brought by Oracle concerning the use of the Java programming language in Google’s Android platform.
Alphabet, Google and Loon in litigation involving claims of patent infringement, trade-secret misappropriation and breach of contract. Won summary judgment of noninfringement and successfully preserved that ruling on appeal.
Comcast Cable Communications, LLC in a $2.2 billion patent infringement action. Successfully defended against the infringement claim.
A leading game publisher in a patent infringement action concerning software licensing technology in the Eastern District of Texas. Won partial summary judgment of noninfringement.
HTC in litigation brought by Apple involving claims concerning smartphone technology.
Comcast in a nine-patent case involving high-speed internet and digital television services.
A leading internet search engine and its subsidiary in litigation involving claims of unfair competition, dilution and various torts.
Life Sciences
A bioscience company in litigation involving an alleged breach of a licensing agreement and a motion for a preliminary injunction.
Antitrust
Visa USA, Inc. in one of the largest private civil antitrust matters in U.S. history.
