• Bruce, Willa and Charles, who lost their Manhattan Beach business and property through a racially discriminatory condemnation action nearly 100 years ago. MTO represented the Bruce family, who successfully intervened in defending against a taxpayer action that sought to prevent Los Angeles County from returning the condemned beachfront property to the family.
• The Los Angeles Clippers in resolving numerous legal obstacles to the development of their new arena by negotiating for Clippers owner Steve Ballmer to purchase a competing venue, The Forum, from the Madison Square Garden Company.
• The Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority in the joint development of a Metro site in Universal City, California, that includes office buildings, studio facilities and a parking garage.
• Hillspire, LLC in connection with a sale/leaseback transaction for the development of an office building in Beverly Hills, California.
• KB Home in achieving a pre-trial arbitration settlement to a $100 million construction defect claim concerning a large condominium development in Redwood City, California.
• MGM Resorts International in obtaining dismissal of shareholder derivative litigation in state and federal courts and settling the remaining federal securities class action relating to a drop in its stock price, allegedly due to misrepresentations regarding the construction and financing of the CityCenter development in Las Vegas, Nevada.
• Legend Pictures in the negotiation of its headquarters lease in Burbank, California.
• Oaktree Capital Management and Hines Interests, separately and in joint ventures, on numerous acquisitions, sales and financings.
