Munger, Tolles & Olson Co-Managing Partner Martin Estrada was quoted in a recent Daily Journal article titled, “The new threat landscape for judges.”

The article explores a rise in threats against the judiciary, highlighted by the September 2024 bombing at the Santa Maria Courthouse. It also examines ongoing efforts to strengthen judiciary security, including legislative measures such as AB 2235, known as the Judicial Home Security Act, which is designed to protect judicial officers by allowing them to keep their home addresses off public records.

Drawing on his experience as U.S. Attorney for the Central District of California, Martin emphasized the importance of thoroughly investigating and prosecuting threats against the courts: “Current threats against bench officers, prosecutors and defense attorneys are chilling and unacceptable.”
