Martin Estrada Discusses Burglary Tourism in Netflix Documentary on Chilean High Society Crime Ring
November 5, 2026
Munger, Tolles & Olson Co-Managing Partner Martin Estrada is featured in the Netflix documentary “Alta Gama: El Caso Relojes” (High End: The Watch Theft Ring), now streaming on the platform.
Directed by Cristóbal Valenzuela and produced by Fábula, the documentary traces nearly a decade of investigations, police operations and court proceedings surrounding Chile’s “Caso Relojes.” The investigation uncovered a network that stole luxury watches and jewelry in Europe and the United States and brought them into Chile for resale through intermediaries and jewelry businesses.
In his interview, Martin discusses his Office’s efforts to combat burglary tourism during his tenure as U.S. Attorney for the Central District of California, where his priorities included targeting organized and violent crime. Under his leadership, the Office charged leaders of a crime-tourism ring with RICO conspiracy for facilitating hundreds of burglaries across roughly 80 cities in states including California, Colorado, Arizona, New Jersey, Kansas, and Illinois, and causing over $35 million in estimated losses.
