John Major Named to Daily Journal’s 2026 Top 40 Under 40 List 

Munger, Tolles & Olson Partner John Major has been named to the Daily Journal’s 2026 40 Under 40 list, which recognizes leading California lawyers under the age of 40. 

John’s profile highlights his work representing technology companies in complex litigation and regulatory matters involving novel questions at the intersection of technology and the law, including product liability, Section 230 and AI and platform-related disputes. 

Among the matters featured is his work as co-lead counsel for Snap in nationwide social media addiction litigation pending in federal multidistrict litigation and coordinated California proceedings. The profile also recognizes John’s Section 230 victories for Snap in Harris v. Snap and V.V. v. Meta Platforms. In both cases, plaintiffs sought to hold Snap liable for harms allegedly arising from third-party content or interactions on the platform.  

“These decisions addressed difficult and developing questions at the intersection of technology, free speech and product liability,” said John. Discussing the challenges presented by these matters, John noted that courts are being asked to apply laws developed in a different technological era to algorithms, platform features and digital interactions.
