Munger, Tolles & Olson Receives 2025 OneJustice Champion of Justice Award

Munger, Tolles & Olson is pleased to announce that the firm has been recognized by OneJustice with the 2025 Champion of Justice award for its work with Human Rights First (HRF), a U.S. advocacy organization focused on promoting respect for human rights and the rule of law. MTO will be honored alongside other awardees at the OneJustice Opening Doors to Justice Gala, which will take place on June 12 at The Battery in San Francisco.

OneJustice acts as a support center for legal aid nonprofits and pro bono partners and has helped MTO by working to maximize the impact of pro bono volunteers across California. OneJustice also shines a spotlight on the important work MTO and others are doing to support our communities.

OneJustice’s Champion of Justice Award is an annual recognition of incredible legal aid service in California. Awardees come from the nonprofit sector, firms and individual attorneys providing pro bono services, corporations, associations and government agencies. Awardees are those who go above and beyond to reimagine legal services, combine forces to tackle inequality, increase access to legal services for all Californians and champion innovation in the sector.

MTO has partnered with HRF’s Los Angeles Office in dozens of pro bono cases over the last decade. During this time, MTO and HRF have assisted many clients seeking relief before the Immigration Court, Asylum Office, Board of Immigration Appeals and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. Since 2017, MTO has worked with HRF to champion immigrants seeking asylum because of persecution they faced in their home country due to, among other things, their LGBTQIA+ identity. Through this work, MTO and HRF have had an extraordinary impact on the lives of numerous refugees and otherwise vulnerable immigrants.
