Munger, Tolles & Olson Named to Law360’s “Legal Lions of the Week” After Securing Win in Federal Circuit
Munger, Tolles & Olson was named to Law360’s “Legal Lions of the Week” column after securing an appellate victory for Google LLC before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit sitting en banc.
MTO achieved the appellate win when the full Federal Circuit ordered a new trial on damages in a case where a jury had previously determined that Google should pay $20 million for allegedly infringing an EcoFactor Inc. thermostat patent. The circuit court found that the testimony provided by EcoFactor’s expert on damages was unreliable and should not have been admitted. This was the first time in several years that the Federal Circuit took a utility patent case en banc.
Law360’s “Legal Lions of the Week” is a weekly column that highlights significant legal victories and achievements by law firms, recognizing recent successes in litigation, deals and other matters. MTO was featured alongside co-counsel Keker Van Nest & Peters LLP in the May 23rd edition.
The MTO team representing Google includes Ginger Anders, Vincent Ling and Evan Mann.
