The Los Angeles Business Journal has named Munger, Tolles & Olson partners Laura Smolowe and L. Ashley Aull to its 2023 Leaders of Influence: Thriving in Their 40s list, which recognizes the very best litigators and trial attorneys in Los Angeles, who happen to be in their 40s.
Ms. Smolowe and Ms. Aull were chosen by the Los Angeles Business Journal to be featured on this list because of their demonstrated impact on the legal profession and Los Angeles business community. Their outstanding professional accomplishments, community leadership, and notable milestones were highlighted in profiles published on December 18, 2023.
The Los Angeles Business Journal highlighted the fact that some of the world’s most prominent companies, including Amgen, Facebook, and Snap, look to Ms. Smolowe to guide them through their thorniest legal matters with “a creative, determined and steadfast hand.” The profile also praised Ms. Smolowe’s thought leadership in the area of trade secrets and employee mobility in an array of industries. In Ms. Aull’s profile, the Los Angeles Business Journal highlighted her extensive trial and appellate experience in business-critical and crisis litigation. She was recognized for her leadership in numerous trials and arbitrations, as well as for arguing 45 cases at the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals. Specifically, Ms. Aull received acclaim for her recent work in several high-profile cases, including representing a Fortune 100 technology company as co-lead trial counsel in an over $1 billion contract and accounting dispute, in which she achieved a complete defense victory.
