Munger, Tolles & Olson Partner Victoria Degtyareva Recognized with Prosecutor of the Year Award

Munger, Tolles & Olson partner Victoria Degtyareva was recognized by the Los Angeles County Bar Association as a Prosecutor of the Year alongside five other current and former Assistant U.S. Attorneys for their work in a criminal case involving 51 members of a Mexican Mafia-affiliated street gang.

The case involved 35 counts, including RICO conspiracy, murder, money laundering conspiracy, drug trafficking conspiracy and firearm offenses. The defendants were tried in five separate trials, which included a month-long RICO and murder trial for the lead defendant where Ms. Degtyareva served as trial counsel.

Ms. Degtyareva was presented with the award by former U.S. Attorney Nick Hanna during the 2023 Criminal Justice Awards Dinner hosted by the Los Angeles County Bar Association. The other honorees were Carol Chen, Jamie Lang, Kathy Yu, Chelsea Norell and Lindsay Bailey.
