Munger, Tolles & Olson Co-Managing Partners Malcolm Heinicke and Hailyn Chen Named 2023 Managing Partner of the Year Finalists for The American Lawyer’s Industry Awards
The American Lawyer has announced that Munger, Tolles & Olson’s co-managing partners Malcolm Heinicke and Hailyn Chen have been named finalists in the publication’s 2023 Industry Awards for the Managing Partner of the Year category.
The American Lawyer Industry Awards recognize outstanding achievements in the legal profession at the national level, largely around Big Law and in-house legal departments. The Managing Partner of the Year category is new to this year’s awards and nominees were selected by The American Lawyer’s editors.
Mr. Heinicke, whose practice focuses on employment and complex commercial litigation, has held leadership positions throughout his career. He served as the 105th president of the Bar Association of San Francisco, a past president of the Barristers Club of the San Francisco Bar Association and past chair of the Labor and Employment section of the Barristers Club. Mr. Heinicke also served, via mayoral appointment, as the chair of the board of directors of the San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency and as chair of the San Francisco Human Rights Commission, the body charged with overseeing and enforcing the City’s anti-discrimination laws and policies.
Ms. Chen is known as a leader inside and outside the courtroom, with a practice focused on complex business litigation, white collar criminal defense, and government and internal investigations. She has earned a reputation as one of the nation’s leading lawyers and has paved the way for other women attorneys of color to excel in their practices and drive initiatives for diversity and inclusion in the legal profession. In addition to her firm leadership, she has served as an appointee of the California Supreme Court on the State Bar of California’s Board of Trustees since 2017, and also serves on the UCLA School of Law Advisory Board and as a member of the board of directors of the Attorney Liability Assurance Society.
The American Lawyer will announce the Industry Award winners on November 15, 2023.
