Munger, Tolles & Olson Again Ranks No.1 on The American Lawyer’s A-List

On August 1, 2023, Munger, Tolles & Olson LLP was ranked No.1 on The American Lawyer’s A-List for the ninth time. 

The A-List ranks America’s top domestic and global law firms. Each year, only 20 law firms qualify for a spot on this list which ranks “the most well-rounded members of the Am Law 200.” In assigning its rankings, The American Lawyer rigorously evaluates firm performance across five key financial and cultural categories: revenue per lawyer, associate satisfaction, diversity, pro bono commitment and the percentage of women equity partners. 

Even though MTO scored high among the five categories last year, the firm improved on its score in almost every category in 2023. For example, MTO increased its associate satisfaction score by 10 points and its pro bono score increased from an already-strong 97.5 to 99.5. This demonstrates MTO’s “deep commitment” to giving associates early responsibilities to learn and grow and to advancing pro bono cases and diversity.

MTO has earned the highest average A-List rankings in the listing’s 20-year history and the most number one rankings in the history of this award.
