In Memoriam: Charlie Munger (1924-2023)

We are deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Charles Thomas (“Charlie”) Munger on November 28, 2023. Our sincerest sympathies go out to Charlie’s family and friends at this difficult time.

In 1962, Charlie Munger, along with six other attorneys, had a vision of what our law firm could become and laid the foundation for the firm’s success today. He will be remembered for his wisdom, teaching, and the values that he shared with us, Berkshire Hathaway and the world. He will be sorely missed.

Ron Olson, named partner of Munger, Tolles & Olson LLP said the following: “Today, the world has lost a giant, and our firm has lost one of its founders, a man whose name we proudly bear. While Charlie’s vision,  philanthropy, and ability to tell it like it is are known to all, he was to us a dear and generous friend. He will be missed, but his values will live on, and that is great comfort at this time.”

Charlie Munger was born in Omaha, Nebraska on January 1, 1924, and he was 99 years old.
