Miriam Kim and Carolyn Hoecker Luedtke Named Top Trade Secrets Lawyers
The Daily Journal named Miriam Kim and Carolyn Hoecker Luedtke to its Top Trade Secret Lawyers of 2020 list on Oct. 8, 2020. Only 20 outstanding California attorneys who practice trade secret law were recognized with this honor.
Working primarily with technology companies, Miriam Kim investigates stolen trade secrets in matters that, if left unaddressed, could potentially amount to hundreds of millions of dollars of damages to her clients. One of Ms. Kim’s stand-out skills which the Daily Journal noted is that she’s able to uncover damaging forensic evidence and negotiate a resolution before her clients suffer significant harm; when necessary, she successfully obtains temporary restraining orders or resolves the matter through litigation. For clients facing allegations of trade misappropriation, Ms. Kim develops factual and legal defenses to undermine the plaintiffs’ claims. In recent years, her trade secrets matters have included work for clients such as Amgen, Applied Materials and Checkr.
Carolyn Hoecker Luedtke is the go-to counselor and litigator for technology, social media, and entertainment companies on trade secret matters – both where it involves mobile employees and where information is shared between companies and a dispute ensues. This is Ms. Luedtke’s second straight year on the Daily Journal’s list. This past year, Ms. Luedtke secured multiple temporary restraining orders and preliminary injunctions to protect her clients whose trade secrets had been misappropriated. She also scored an important appellate victory to protect a client wrongfully accused of misappropriating confidential information in deal negotiations. Like Ms. Kim, a big part of Ms. Luedtke’s trade secret practice is counseling clients whose information was misappropriated, or who are accused of misappropriation, and she has successfully guided many clients through investigations and negotiated resolutions before they reach court.
