Hailyn Chen Named Nominee for CEO of the Year by Los Angeles Business Journal
Munger, Tolles & Olson Co-Managing Partner Hailyn Chen was named as a nominee of the Los Angeles Business Journal’s CEO of the Year award on Oct. 19, 2020.
Ms. Chen was selected as a nominee for this honor for paving the way the way for other women attorneys and attorneys of color to excel in their practice—both in leading by example and driving initiatives to promote diversity and inclusion in the firm. At 43, Ms. Chen became the firm’s first woman of color to serve as Co-Managing Partner and in doing so, became one of the only women of color to lead an AmLaw 200 law firm. Under Ms. Chen’s leadership, Munger Tolles has redoubled its commitment to the advancement of attorneys of color and women attorneys in the firm and in the legal profession.
Since Ms. Chen took up the mantle as Co-Managing Partner, the firm has seen significant financial growth. In May 2020, American Lawyer recognized Munger Tolles for both its high profits per equity partner and value per lawyer, placing the firm in the “elite” category of this prestigious ranking. Under her leadership, the firm also ranked No. 1 for the seventh time on the American Lawyer’s 2020 A-List which highlights the “best of the best” law firms for their commitment to a variety of financial and cultural markers including racial diversity and gender diversity among the partnership.
Hailyn Chen is a Munger, Tolles & Olson litigation partner and Co-Managing Partner of the firm.
