Munger, Tolles & Olson Achieves Mansfield Certification Plus Status
Munger, Tolles & Olson announced on Sept. 4, 2019 that it attained Mansfield Certification Plus status from Diversity Lab in recognition of the firm’s diverse recruiting and promotion processes.
Our firm earned Mansfield Certification Plus status after completing the Mansfield Rule 2.0 12-month certification program. The program measures whether law firms have affirmatively considered at least 30 percent women, lawyers of color and LGBTQ+ lawyers for leadership and governance roles, equity partner promotions, formal client pitch opportunities, and senior lateral positions.
“Diversity is woven into the fabric of our culture and has long been a priority for our firm,” said Munger, Tolles & Olson partner Rose Leda Ehler, who spearheaded the firm’s efforts to implement the Mansfield Rule. “Achieving Mansfield Certification Plus status validates the important work we are doing in advancing diversity in our firm and the legal profession.”
The goal of the Mansfield Rule is to increase the representation of diverse lawyers in law firm leadership by expanding the pool of candidates considered for these opportunities. Our lawyers were part of the team that developed the Mansfield Rule idea, which was named the “crowd favorite” at the inaugural Women in Law Hackathon in 2016.
Munger, Tolles & Olson has signed on to pilot Mansfield Rule 3.0, which runs through July 2020 and will include tracking of lawyers with disabilities.
