Don Verrilli Delivers 2026 George Barrett Social Justice Lecture 

Munger, Tolles & Olson Partner Don Verrilli delivered the 2026 George Barrett Social Justice Lecture at Vanderbilt University Law School on March 5 in Nashville, TN. During his talk, titled “Civic Courage, the Rule of Law and the Legal Profession at a Crossroads,” Don reflected on the 2025 executive orders that targeted American law firms and threatened the rule of law and the integrity of the justice system.  

The 2026 Barrett Lecture is part of Vanderbilt’s yearlong celebration of America’s 250^th anniversary. The annual lecture is sponsored by the George Barrett Social Justice Program, which is named and endowed in honor of the civil rights leader. George Barrett represented student protesters during the Nashville sit-in movement and led the successful legal battle that desegregated Tennessee’s public institutions of higher learning.
