Overview

Abigail K. Bessler is a litigation associate in the Los Angeles office of Munger, Tolles & Olson, focusing on matters related to entertainment, intellectual property, bankruptcy, California state tort claims and class action litigation.

She also maintains a pro bono practice focusing on LGBTQ+ rights and immigration. With a background that includes public policy work and award-winning writing experience, Abigail brings valuable insight and skill to the cases she works on.

Abigail earned her J.D. from Yale Law School, where she was an editor for the Yale Law Journal and the Yale Law & Policy Review.  She also worked as a legal intern at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, served as a head teaching assistant for Professor Akhil Amar, and participated in the San Francisco Affirmative Litigation Project, the Solomon Center for Health Law & Policy and the Yale Creative Society. Abigail was awarded Best Written Brief at the UCLA Williams Institute’s Moot Court Competition on Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity Law in 2023.

Prior to law school, Abigail served as a legislative director at the New York City Council, leading policy strategy for a local councilmember and helping to pass legislation on issues ranging from criminal justice to campaign finance. She has also worked at political public relations and speechwriting firms.

Abigail received her B.A., summa cum laude, in political science from Yale College, where she was the editor of the Yale Daily News Magazine. She was awarded the Frank M. Patterson Prize for Best Senior Essay on the American Political System from Yale University in 2017 and the Mark of Excellence Award for Investigative Reporting from the Society of Professional Journalists in 2015.

Outside of her legal work, Abigail does woodworking and performs stand-up comedy.
