Overview

Oliver Brown is an attorney in the Los Angeles office of Munger, Tolles & Olson whose practice focuses on high-stakes commercial litigation in the entertainment and technology industries.

Oliver has represented leading entertainment companies (Disney, Netflix and Activision Blizzard) and major trade organizations (the Motion Picture Association of America and the California Gaming Association) at all stages of litigation. He focuses on copyright and trademark law and frequently advises clients regarding the risks and opportunities presented by new legal developments in the evolving entertainment landscape.

Oliver also maintains an active pro bono practice focused on government transparency and police misconduct. One of his matters involved representing the ACLU in a precedent-setting lawsuit, which compelled the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department to release thousands of records of police violence and dishonesty.

Before law school, Oliver worked in the music industry, managing licensing deals and partnerships between technology companies and some of the world’s biggest artists. His writing on novel copyright issues has appeared in the Harvard Journal of Law & Technology and the Interactive Entertainment Law Review.
