MTO Secures Dismissal of Trade Secret Claims Against OpenAI

Munger, Tolles & Olson secured dismissal of trade secret claims brought against OpenAI in a closely watched dispute involving employment in the artificial intelligence industry. In xAI Corp. v. OpenAI, Inc., xAI alleged that OpenAI misappropriated xAI trade secrets through former xAI employees who later joined OpenAI. On June 15, 2026, the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California granted OpenAI’s motion to dismiss and dismissed xAI’s claims without leave to amend.
