Munger, Tolles & Olson Partner Martin Estrada was named the 2025 LEAP Changemaker Honoree by Legal Education Access Pipeline, Inc. (LEAP). Honored on October 12 at LEAP’s annual Take the LEAP fundraiser, Martin was recognized as this year’s honoree for his distinguished career in complex litigation, public service and equity. His leadership as U.S. Attorney for the Central District of California, commitment to pro bono work and efforts to support underrepresented groups in law through mentorship and community service exemplify the values celebrated by LEAP.

In addition to his professional achievements, Martin’s personal journey as the son of Guatemalan immigrants and his fluency in Spanish have deeply informed his advocacy for inclusion within the legal profession. His enduring involvement on nonprofit and legal boards, along with landmark cases such as the Bruce’s Beach restitution and education equity initiatives, highlights his dedication to expanding opportunities and justice for underserved communities. Through his work, Martin continues to inspire the next generation of legal professionals and support meaningful change.

LEAP was founded by Cindy Lopez—after decades in legal and nonprofit leadership—to increase law school access for underrepresented groups. LEAP’s mission is powered by partnerships with law schools, law firms, and funders, who provide support, mentorship, and career development opportunities for aspiring legal professionals. Launched in 2020, LEAP’s nine-month fellowship combines workshops, mentoring, and hands-on experiences to help students build essential skills, networks, and readiness for law school and legal careers. MTO proudly partners with LEAP for their fellowship program to support the next generation of legal professionals and aspiring lawyers.
