Martin Estrada Discusses Ryan Wedding Investigation on CBC’s “The Most Wanted Olympian” Podcast

Munger, Tolles & Olson Co-Managing Partner Martin Estrada is featured on episode five of the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC) and Toronto Star’s podcast series, “The Most Wanted Olympian.” The series examines the case of former Canadian Olympic snowboarder Ryan Wedding, who is accused of running an international drug trafficking organization.
As U.S. Attorney for the Central District of California, Martin led the office that brought charges against Ryan Wedding and other alleged members of the organization, whose activities prosecutors linked to cocaine trafficking and multiple killings. During the episode, Martin discusses the federal investigation and prosecution, tracing how the case unfolded leading up to his arrest. Reflecting on Wedding’s trajectory, Martin says, “What you see from the Ryan Wedding story is really a tragic story…when you see the opportunities he was given on multiple occasions and him not just squandering those opportunities but rejecting them wholly to go in the opposite direction.”
