Hunter Armour and Matt Linsley Featured in the Daily Journal’s “Salute to Veterans” Series
November 11, 2025
In honor of Veteran’s Day, Munger, Tolles & Olson Associates Hunter Armour and Matt Linsley were featured in the Daily Journal’s 2025 “Salute to Veterans” series, sharing their journeys from military service to legal practice. Hunter and Matt reflected on how their time in uniform continues to shape their approach to leadership, teamwork and high-stakes legal matters.
In his profile, Hunter discussed how his experience as a Marine infantry officer in Afghanistan informs his work as an attorney. He shared that the Marine Corps principle of “embracing the suck” – finding purpose and even satisfaction in difficult challenges – helps him maintain perspective and resilience in demanding cases. Hunter also emphasized that his dedication to service extends beyond the military, guiding his ongoing commitment to pro bono advocacy.
Matt, who served as a forward-deployed nuclear submarine officer in the U.S. Navy, reflected on how lessons from military leadership translate to his current practice in energy and regulated industries. “My service as a naval officer made certain things second nature that can come less naturally to people who didn’t learn to lead in the military,” he noted. Matt also highlighted how joining a community of veteran lawyers supported his transition to civilian life and continues to enrich his professional journey.
MTO is proud to celebrate the contributions of its veteran attorneys and honors all who have served.
