Malcolm Heinicke and Rohit Singla Named 2023 Top Labor and Employment Lawyers by the Daily Journal

The Daily Journal named Co-Managing Partner Malcolm Heinicke and partner Rohit Singla 2023 Top Labor and Employment Lawyers. The annual award recognizes the top labor and employment attorneys throughout California.

Mr. Heinicke was honored as one of the top in his field for his ability to assist sophisticated employers in overcoming their most challenging employment litigation matters. His recent success includes two big wins for Wells Fargo in connection with wrongful termination lawsuits, as well as blocking a national collective action against Wells Fargo that sought $32 million in damages over alleged off-the-clock overtime. Mr. Heinicke noted that “winning cases is fun,” but “giving opportunities to young lawyers and watching them crush it, that’s the best part of the job.” 

This is the 15th consecutive year Mr. Heinicke has been recognized on the Daily Journal’s Top Labor and Employment Lawyers list.

Mr. Singla was recognized for his work on behalf of major “gig” economy companies on bet-the-company employment cases. The Daily Journal spotlighted his ongoing representation of Lyft in one of the largest employment cases in the state arising from the alleged misclassification of more than 500,000 California drivers. Mr. Singla noted that the cases “are of a different scale than typical employment cases” and that the firm’s “bread and butter is very large, complex litigation.” The Daily Journal also noted Mr. Singla’s work representing Instacart in litigation centering on whether its delivery drivers are exempt from mandatory arbitration because they work in interstate transportation.

This is the second consecutive year Mr. Singla has been recognized on the Top Labor and Employment Lawyers list.
