Out of hundreds of nominees, Munger, Tolles & Olson partner Luis Li was named a Top White Collar attorney in California by the Daily Journal on Dec. 9, 2020.
The publication honors attorneys who have made an impact handling some of the most complex and high-profile white collar matters in the state. Mr. Li, a former federal prosecutor, has handled a number of notable white collar matters in recent years including representing the defendants in the Santa Barbara oil spill litigation, counseling the Santa Anita Park Racetrack in an investigation by the California Horse Racing Board and the University of California in the Varsity Blues admissions matter.
In particular, the Daily Journal noted his representation of the J. Paul Getty Trust in an attempt by the Italian government to seize from the Getty Museum a Greek bronze statue of a young athlete dating from the 3rd century B.C. Since 2007, Mr. Li has developed the defenses, prepared the witnesses and coordinated the Getty’s Italian legal team in this criminal forfeiture matter. Known for his work in white collar criminal law, this award comes on the heels of Mr. Li being named a Criminal Law Trailblazer by The National Law Journal earlier this year.
Luis Li is a trial lawyer whose practice includes complex business litigation, corporate crisis management, internal investigations, international enforcement matters and white-collar criminal defense.
