See’s Candies Defeats Class Cert in Employment Suit

Munger, Tolles & Olson represented See’s Candies in defeating an effort to certify a novel wage and hour class action on July 12, 2019. 

The plaintiff, a former seasonal employee of See’s, sought to certify a claim that the candy-maker denied meal periods to employees who worked at stores alone and/or on unusually long shifts. Munger, Tolles & Olson successfully demonstrated to Judge Maren Nelson of the Los Angeles Superior Court that the company adopted and communicated a lawful meal and rest period policy with multiple means of compliance.
