Munger, Tolles & Olson Funds Fellowship at Homeboy Industries

Munger, Tolles & Olson announced at a Homeboy Industries event for the local legal community on May 16, 2019 that Donna Harati is the recipient of a firm-sponsored Munger, Tolles & Olson Fellowship at Homeboy Industries.

Funded out of an award of attorneys’ fees the firm received in a groundbreaking lawsuit that barred the unconstitutional enforcement of “gang injunctions,” the fellowship will support Ms. Harati’s ongoing work as Homeboy Industries’ full-time director of legal services. In this role, Ms. Harati serves as the organization’s community lawyer, providing assessment, accompaniment and advocacy for Homeboy Industries’ trainees and clients, and as a bridge to legal aid services in the community.

Based in Los Angeles, Homeboy Industries is the largest gang intervention, rehab and re-entry program in the world.

Ms. Harati joined Homeboy Industries as a Skadden Fellow after serving as an education reentry specialist at the Penitentiary of New Mexico. She previously clerked for Judge James Gwin in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Ohio. Ms. Harati graduated magna cum laude with a J.D. from Harvard Law School, and she holds a B.S. in Foreign Service from Georgetown University.
