Munger, Tolles & Olson was recognized as a 2018 Equal Justice Award recipient by the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) of Southern California on June 8, 2018.
The ACLU’s Equal Justice Awards “celebrate our victories, the advocates who partner with us, and the entertainment leaders who use their voices to advance our shared vision of liberty and justice for all.”
The firm was selected for securing a historic class-wide preliminary injunction, as co-counsel with the ACLU, that halted the unconstitutional enforcement of “gang injunctions,” which the City of Los Angeles been using to prevent suspected gang members from participating in various legal activities.
The Munger, Tolles & Olson lawyers who worked on the case include Laura D. Smolowe, Jacob S. Kreilkamp, Ankur Mandhania and Adele M. El-Khouri. Mr. Kreilkamp is a director of the ACLU Foundation of Southern California.
