In line with its mission to advance diversity and promote inclusion within the legal profession, Munger, Tolles & Olson is among the first firms in the nation to attain Mansfield Certification Plus status, Diversity Lab announced Aug. 20, 2018.
The Certification Plus confirms that the firm has achieved 30 percent women and attorneys of color for more than half of the positions tracked. The designation comes after the firm completed the inaugural one-year pilot for the Mansfield Rule, which measures whether law firms have affirmatively considered women lawyers and attorneys of color for significant leadership roles in the firm.
“I’m thrilled that we have achieved Mansfield Certification Plus,” said Rose Leda Ehler, co-chair of the firm’s Women’s Initiative. “It is vital that our firm and industry take steps to increase the representation women and attorneys of color in leadership positions.”
Our lawyers, led by the firm’s Diversity Committee Co-Chair Mark Helm, were part of the team that developed the Mansfield Rule idea, which was named a “crowd favorite” during the first annual Women in Law Hackathon, which brought together more than 80 law firm partners, expert advisors and Stanford Law students to formulate initiatives to advance women in the legal profession.
