As the sole honoree in the private practice category, Mr. Klaus was chosen for his significant impact on intellectual property law, outstanding client service, and leadership within a number of copyright law organizations. He was recognized for, among other matters, his successful representation of FX Networks in a defamation and right of publicity lawsuit brought by actress Olivia de Havilland; and for his representation of several major Hollywood studios in copyright and DMCA litigation that resulted in a preliminary injunction being granted (and affirmed on appeal) against VidAngel’s unauthorized streaming service.
