California ChangeLawyers named UCLA School of Law student Idalmis Vaquero as the recipient of the Munger, Tolles & Olson Jay Fujitani Memorial Scholarship. On Oct. 4, 2018, attorney Anjan Choudhury presented Ms. Vaquero with the scholarship at the foundation’s annual recognition ceremony.
Ms. Vaquero was selected as one of 31 students to receive a scholarship. The award provides financial support to first-year California law students with the goal of enhancing diversity in the legal profession. Formerly named the Munger, Tolles & Olson Diversity Scholarship, the award was renamed in 2017 in honor of the firm’s late partner, Jay M. Fujitani.
Ms. Vaquero is a first-year student at the UCLA School of Law who earned her B.A. from Wellesley College. A resident of East Los Angeles, Ms. Vaquero is pursuing a law degree to be an environmental justice attorney and advocate for low-income communities of color. Prior to matriculating to law school, Ms. Vaquero was a member of the firm’s 2017 MTO Fellows Program class. Two other MTO Fellows Program alums, Estefani Rodriguez and Leslie Joya, also received scholarships from California ChangeLawyers.
