Munger, Tolles & Olson has been recognized by Yale Law Women as a 2017 Top Ten Family Friendly Firm in its report released on June 26, 2017. In addition to its place on the “Top Ten” list, Munger Tolles also earned a “category honor” for having one of the highest percentage of attorneys promoted to partner in 2016 while working part-time or flexible full-time schedules. To create the Top Ten List, Yale Law Women invited all firms listed in the 2017 Vault Law 100 to participate in its survey of family-friendly policies and practices. The organization collected data on family accommodations and parental leave, as well as indicators of gender equality such as partnership promotions and composition of leadership committees. The survey measured the policies on paper, as well as their actual use by attorneys at each firm.
“Since our founding, Munger Tolles has remained committed to supporting attorneys as they strive to attain their personal and professional goals with family-friendly policies,” said Munger Tolles Women’s Initiative Committee Co-Chair Tamerlin J. Godley. “We are so proud to be recognized as a leader in this area.”
One of the firm’s most significant family-oriented initiatives was its co-founding of Hope Street Friends in 2010. The facility, built jointly with two other professional services firms, was the first on-site law firm-sponsored child care center on the West Coast. Munger Tolles’ family-friendly programs also include subsidized back-up care through Bright Horizons, a reduced hours policy, a parental leave policy and an active Attorney Parent affinity group.
