Munger Tolles, NBCUniversal Attorneys Win Critical Step Toward Juvenile Immigration Relief

Partnering with two NBCUniversal attorneys, Joe Waz and Adam Hagen, Munger, Tolles & Olson’s Joseph D. Lee and Adam R. Lawton obtained a predicate order on April 28, 2017, allowing Special Immigrant Juvenile Status (SIJS) relief for a 15-year-old Mexican national.
The case faced significant obstacles, such as a search to find a process server willing to go to one of the most dangerous neighborhoods in the state of Guerrero, Mexico, to personally serve process on the client’s Mexico-resident relatives.
With the grant of a SIJS predicate order, the youth will be offered a path to avoid deportation and ultimately become a lawful permanent resident of the United States.
Munger Tolles has a longstanding commitment to providing pro bono legal assistance to underserved populations, including ongoing advocacy for unaccompanied refugees and immigrant children.
