Munger, Tolles & Olson attorney Michael B. DeSanctis will participate in a CLE webinar hosted by the American Bar Association about a significant U.S. Supreme Court death penalty case on Sept. 28, 2017.
“McWilliams v. Dunn: Ake & Access to Mental Health Expert for Alabama Death Row Inmate?” will review the successful argument made before the Supreme Court on behalf of James McWilliams, an Alabama death row inmate, who did not receive adequate expert mental health expert assistance after being convicted of capital murder in 1986. The court ruled 5-4 in favor of Mr. McWilliams. Mr. DeSanctis was co-counsel at the Supreme Court, along with Munger, Tolles & Olson attorneys Donald B. Verrilli, Jr. and Joshua Meltzer.
