Maria Jhai on Significant Cases in Food Law

Munger, Tolles & Olson attorney Maria Jhai co-authored an article for the 2016 edition of California Litigation Review that reviews significant cases in food law.

In the piece, Ms. Jhai and co-author Christopher Van Gundy describe the consistent increase in food litigation in California and discuss key cases that can guide litigators working on food-related lawsuits, including:

  • A lawsuit challenging Chipotle’s “non-GMO” claim.
  • Claims brought against Hain for its use of the terms “natural” and “100% vegetarian” on its products.
  • A putative class action on behalf of purchasers of Kroger Bread Crumbs, which were alleged to contain partially hydrogenated oils.
