Munger, Tolles & Olson attorney Kelly M. Klaus was named one of The Hollywood Reporter’s 2017 Power Lawyers on April 26, 2017. The list recognizes 100 attorneys who “play a vital role in keeping Hollywood’s wheels turning” and are “at the very top of their field.”
Mr. Klaus was recognized for his victories in several high-profile cases, including a putative class action lawsuit against the MPAA and its members, asserting that the MPAA’s film-rating service had to assign an R-rating to any movie that included any tobacco imagery should carry an R-rating; a lawsuit by Disney, Lucasfilm, Fox and Warner Bros. against the VidAngel streaming service; and a suit by actor Jared Leto’s company against TMZ and Warner Bros.
Mr. Klaus focuses his practice on copyright and related litigation, including antitrust and class action litigation. He represents major motion picture studios and recorded music companies in some of their highest-profile litigation. In addition to litigating, Mr. Klaus regularly counsels clients on copyright, software licensing and other intellectual property issues.
