The California Bar Foundation named UCLA School of Law student Yadira Gutierrez Vargas as the 2016 Munger, Tolles & Olson LLP Diversity Scholar. On Sept. 22, 2016, Munger Tolles attorney Mary Ann Todd presented Ms. Gutierrez Vargas with the scholarship at the foundation’s annual recognition ceremony.
Ms. Gutierrez Vargas was selected as one of 34 students, representing 12 schools, to receive a scholarship, which provides financial support to first-year California law students with the goal of enhancing diversity in the legal profession.
Ms. Gutierrez Vargas is a first-year UCLA law student and the first in her family to graduate from college. She earned her B.A. in Latin American Studies from UC Berkeley, where she worked to improve legal diversity by joining the Latino Pre-Law Society. Ms. Gutierrez Vargas was a member of the 2015 MTO Fellows Program.
