Munger, Tolles & Olson attorneys Katherine M. Forster, Malcolm A. Heinicke and Terry E. Sanchez were named by the Daily Journal as Top Labor and Employment Lawyers in a report published July 20, 2016.
Ms. Forster was recognized for her defense of The Getty Foundation against allegations of discriminatory employment practices by a white student who was deterred from applying for a multicultural undergraduate internship. The report notes that the case could have implications for diversity and inclusion efforts in the workplace.
In his eighth consecutive ranking, the report detailed Mr. Heinicke’s successful representation of a major U.S. banking institution in a lawsuit brought by former employees who alleged the bank denied overtime pay and other classification benefits for financial advisors. Mr. Heinicke secured a dispositive ruling in favor of the bank by demonstrating that financial advisors are exempt from certain benefits under the federal Fair Labor Standards Act.
Mr. Sanchez was recognized for his success in obtaining summary judgment on behalf of Wells Fargo in a lawsuit brought by the City of Los Angeles accusing the bank of engaging in discriminatory and predatory mortgage lending practices.
Ms. Forster represents employers in class and representative actions; wage/hour and compensation disputes; trade secrets; wrongful termination, discrimination and harassment litigation; and appellate matters.
Mr. Heinicke focuses his practice on employment and complex commercial litigation, particularly in class and collective actions and employee mobility matters.
Mr. Sanchez focuses his practice on employment litigation defense, including class and collective actions, wrongful discharge, discrimination and sexual harassment actions, and other employment related lawsuits in state and federal courts.
