Steve Perry Discusses Fair Use and Police/Press Issues at Media Law Conference

Munger, Tolles & Olson attorney Steven M. Perry discussed fair use and press coverage issues at the Media Law Resource Center’s 2016 Media Law Conference on Sep. 21, 2016.

Mr. Perry spoke on a panel titled “Rodney King, 25 Years Later; Fair Use and Police/Press Issues,” which focused on an analysis of the copyright case brought by the person responsible for recording the beating of Rodney King against the networks that broadcast the footage. The discussion included copyright claims as they relate to the First Amendment as well as a focus on the current relationship between the police and the press.

He represented ABC and CBS in the case stemming from the video recording (Holliday v. CNN) and wrote about the case earlier this year in the Daily Journal.

Mr. Perry is a litigation partner who represents clients in a wide array of industries in complex commercial, antitrust, tort and intellectual property matters.
