Playboy Mansion Sold for $100 Million

Munger, Tolles & Olson represented Hugh Hefner in the $100 million sale and leaseback of the Playboy Mansion announced on Aug. 16, 2016. The transaction is the biggest home sale ever recorded in Los Angeles County, according to press reports.

Playboy Enterprises sold the five-acre property located in the Holmby Hills section of Los Angeles to businessman and investor Daren Metropoulos. The property includes a 22,000-square-foot house and a private zoo.

Mr. Hefner, the founder of Playboy Enterprises and a longtime client of Munger Tolles, will continue to occupy the mansion for his lifetime.

Munger Tolles attorneys representing Mr. Hefner include Jeffrey A. Heintz and Kevin S. Masuda.

Munger Tolles also represented Mr. Hefner in Playboy Enterprises’ 2011 going-private transaction.
