Munger, Tolles & Olson attorney Benjamin J. Horwich was named a “Rising Star” by Law360. A profile published on April 11, 2016, highlights Mr. Horwich’s career achievements that earned him a spot on Law360’s list of the top six appellate attorneys under age 40, and advice for junior attorneys.
The profile covers Mr. Horwich’s experience while serving as Assistant to the Solicitor General in the U.S. Department of Justice, and recent matters he has worked on since joining Munger Tolles.
“As an appellate lawyer, there is really no substitute for having a broad base of areas of the law where you have some familiarity,” Mr. Horwich said to Law360. “Our stock in trade is talking to generalist judges who tend not to have extremely deep knowledge of any single subject matter but rather a desire to fit the pieces of the law together in a harmonious way. Coming to an appellate court with that common ground is really valuable.”
Based in San Francisco, Mr. Horwich focuses on complex litigation and appeals. He joined Munger Tolles in 2014 after serving for more than five years as Assistant to the Solicitor General in the U.S. Department of Justice. He clerked previously for Supreme Court Justices Samuel A. Alito and Sandra Day O’Connor.
