Munger Tolles Earns Perfect Score in 2016 Corporate Equality Index

Munger, Tolles & Olson LLP received a perfect score of 100 percent on the 2016 Corporate Equality Index (CEI), a national benchmarking survey and report on corporate policies and practices related to LGBT workplace equality, administered by the Human Rights Campaign Foundation. Munger Tolles joins the ranks of 407 major U.S. businesses which also earned top marks this year.

“Through our policies, practices and benefits, as well as our client representations, we are proud to support LGBT rights and equality,” Co-Managing Partner Brad D. Brian said. “We are honored to receive this important recognition.”

Munger Tolles’ commitment to equality is demonstrated through our LGBT-related policies, which include non-discrimination workplace protections, domestic partner benefits and transgender-inclusive health care benefits. Among the policies and practices designed to create an inclusive and equitable space for all employees, our parental policy focuses on primary caregivers and our policy on taxation of domestic partner benefits ensures that participants are taxed equally.

The firm has also demonstrated its commitment to LGBT equality in our legal representations. From successfully defending legislation prohibiting gay conversion therapy to filing an amicus brief in the U.S. Supreme Court in support of marriage equality for same-sex couples, Munger Tolles is a longtime supporter of LGBT equality under the law.

The 2016 CEI rated 1,027 businesses in the report, which evaluates LGBT-related policies and practices including non-discrimination workplace protections, domestic partner benefits, transgender-inclusive health care benefits, competency programs and public engagement with the LGBT community. Munger Tolles’ efforts in satisfying all of the CEI’s criteria results in a 100 percent ranking and the designation as a Best Place to Work for LGBT Equality.
