Munger, Tolles & Olson attorneys Glenn D. Pomerantz and Anjan Choudhury have been named to Variety’s 2015 Legal Impact Report. The list honors the world’s top entertainment attorneys for their impact on the entertainment industry during the past year.
This is the third consecutive year Mr. Pomerantz appears on the list. In its profile, Variety highlighted Mr. Pomerantz’s role as lead trial counsel defending the NCAA in a class action brought by current and former Division I college football and men’s basketball players. It also mentioned his representations of SoundExchange in a proceeding involving webcasting royalties and Disney in a putative class action asserting privacy claims. Mr. Pomerantz noted to Variety that for many of the matters he handles, “you’re fighting about something that’s actually going to define the way an industry goes in the future.”
Mr. Choudhury appears on the report’s “Up Next” section, which profiles attorneys on the verge of a career breakthrough. Variety cited his role in preparing the case for SoundExchange in its webcasting royalty proceeding, as well as his representation of television studios in disputes concerning profit participation, copyright, digital rights licensing and other legal issues. “Litigating content issues today is as much about understanding evolving digital access models as it is about the established law,” said Mr. Choudhury.
Mr. Pomerantz is a complex commercial litigator who frequently handles high-profile antitrust, copyright and contract disputes in the media, entertainment and sports industries.
Mr. Choudhury practices in a wide variety of matters involving civil, administrative and appellate litigation, focusing primarily on matters for clients in the entertainment industry.
