USC Gould School of Law student Rebecca Berry was named the 2014 Munger, Tolles & Olson LLP Diversity Scholar by the California Bar Foundation. Munger Tolles attorney Laura D. Smolowe presented Ms. Berry with the scholarship at the foundation’s annual recognition ceremony on Sept. 18, 2014.
Ms. Berry was selected from hundreds of candidates as one of only 33 students chosen to receive a Diversity Scholarship, which provides financial support to first-year California law students with the goal of enhancing diversity in the legal profession.
Ms. Berry began attending USC Gould School of Law this fall. She intends to practice constitutional law to protect the rights of marginalized communities. Prior to law school, she worked as an advocate for low-income litigants in family and housing law cases in the Compton Courthouse.
