Garth T. Vincent Represents 1-800 Contacts in U.S. Senate Hearing on Resale Price Maintenance in the Contact Lens Industry

Munger, Tolles & Olson LLP attorney Garth T. Vincent represented 1-800 Contacts in a hearing held by the U.S. Senate's Judiciary Antitrust Subcommittee on July 30, 2014, regarding "Pricing Policies and Competition in the Contact Lens Industry." The hearing examined Resale Price Maintenance ("RPM") policies recently adopted by three of the four major contact lens manufacturers requiring retailers to sell certain contact lenses at or above a specified price or face termination. 1-800 Contacts offered testimony regarding how these RPM policies decrease competition and lead to higher prices for consumers by eliminating the ability of contact lens retailers to discount.
