Munger, Tolles & Olson is proud to announce that it has been named to Yale Law Women’s 2014 Top Ten Family Friendly Firm list. The list recognizes law firms that are leaders in developing and implementing family friendly policies and practices.
As Yale Law Women noted in its report, “75% of the 2013 partner class was women, and more than half of the associates promoted to partner in the past five years have been women.” All six attorneys promoted to partner in the last two years are parents, including five women.
“Our egalitarian environment where consensus-building drives our firm’s culture has created a firm that strongly embraces a commitment to family,” Managing Partner Sandra A. Seville-Jones said. “One just needs to come to one of our firm retreats and see the dozens of children running around and playing to really appreciate how deeply ingrained family is at our firm.”
As one of the few AmLaw 200 firms with a female managing partner, Munger Tolles has been a longtime leader in hiring, promotion and retention of women. Our women lawyers in particular are notable for their accomplishments. Katherine M. Forster, Tamerlin J. Godley, Carolyn Hoecker Luedtke, Rosemarie T. Ring and Mary Ann Todd have been named top female lawyers in California in various publications. They are representative of a deep bench of successful women lawyers who are leaders within the firm.
One of the most important initiatives of the firm was completed in 2010 when Munger Tolles, in conjunction with two business partners, opened the first law-firm sponsored child care center on the West Coast. Each year since its inception, Hope Street Friends has been recognized as “Best Downtown Daycare” by the Los Angeles Downtown News. The center is at full capacity, serving many families of the initial three partner firms and families from the community. With onsite service open 12 hours a day, the center provides the ultimate flexibility for busy parents.
