Ms. Coates began her one-year term as president on April 1, 2014. She plans to focus on enhancing ALA’s diversity program and promoting the benefits of being a member. She has been an active member of ALA for 16 years, most recently serving as vice-president/president-elect (2013-2014).
A 20-year veteran of Munger Tolles, Ms. Coates has been the administrator in the firm’s San Francisco office for 17 years. Additionally, she sits on the board of directors for the San Francisco and Marin Food Banks and has been instrumental in the firm's record-breaking efforts to end hunger.
