Munger, Tolles & Olson partners Kelly M. Klaus and Gregory P. Stone have been named “Angelenos to Know in Intellectual Property Law” by the Los Angeles Business Journal. Mr. Klaus and Mr. Stone were two of 40 top IP attorneys profiled in the Oct. 29 “Who’s Who in L.A. Law” supplement of the publication.
Mr. Klaus was described as “a litigator at the forefront of the entertainment industry’s continued fight against online piracy.” His profile highlights his work prosecuting copyright infringement claims against LimeWire, which had been the world’s largest peer-to-peer site for unauthorized copying of music. The profile also notes Mr. Klaus’ success in defending Universal Music Group against claims brought by Megaupload, as well as in representing all six of the major motion picture studios against illegal Internet streaming service Zediva.
Mr. Stone was recognized for counting some of the nation’s largest technology firms among his clients. His profile emphasizes his recent work for Microsoft, including both his achieving Federal Circuit affirmation of summary judgment on behalf of Microsoft in its long-standing patent infringement case with Walker Digital and his representation of Microsoft in litigation against Datel Holdings.
