Munger, Tolles & Olson litigation partner John W. Spiegel was named as one of Variety’s “50 Game-Changing Attorneys.” The publication recognized “attorneys whose recent deals and court battles have changed the shape of entertainment.”
Mr. Spiegel was featured for his work defending Warner Bros. in its highly publicized litigation against actor Charlie Sheen of “Two and a Half Men.” Variety highlighted his role in helping Warner Bros make the difficult decision to terminate Mr. Sheen, a decision Mr. Spiegel notes “reflects well on the studio from a moral perspective.”
According to Mr. Spiegel, the court’s decision to uphold the arbitration clause in Mr. Sheen’s contact will have a positive impact for future litigation, making it easier to enforce these clauses.
Mr. Spiegel is a partner in the Los Angeles office of Munger Tolles. His practice focuses on complex business litigation in the state and federal courts.
